Transparency & Accountability

The Lower Hudson Valley Diamond Foundation, Inc. (LHVDF) exists as the philanthropic arm of the New Rochelle-White Plains (NY) Alumni Chapter (NRWP) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. With a service area inclusive of the counties of Westchester and Rockland (New York), the LHVDF was incorporated on June 18, 1998, granted its 501c3 status in February 1999, and meets all tax-exempt requirements for a charitable organization as stated by the Internal Revenue Service. LHVDF supports and conducts activities with the broad purpose of helping our young people “Achieve” and thereby reduce inequities and make meaningful change in our community. Our activities include our scholarship program, mentoring, support of the NRWP annual Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Tour, social action/community service outreach and partnerships, just to name a few.

The LHVDF depends on donations to operate and fulfill its mission. We are committed to a policy of transparency and disclosure by ensuring that key financial information is publicly available. We act as good stewards of our resources in that the LHVDF operates efficiently with minimal administrative costs. Our Board of Directors is a working board and is comprised entirely of volunteers. Moreover, we strive to commit at least $0.95 of every dollar directly to our programs. We post our audited financial statements and 990s to the site as they become available.
